Rock-N-Roll Birthday

What a party! Sam's sooo into music, especially "wock-n-woll", that we decided to have a rock-n-roll party for his third birthday.  We had a great time decorating and opening presents, but the party wouldn't been as fun as it was if it hadn't been for Sam's performance.  I'm so happy he decided to sing some of his favorites for his guests.  He's a real rock-n-roll star!

A special book from Granny

Micky Mouse Sing-Along from Gram and Pops

Pennies from Aunt Dell - always!

Sam thought it was hilarious that we were singing just to him!

Some record decorations with Sam's favorite songs          A sprinkle cake - sprinkles inside and out!

Yummy pasta salad, veggies and chips and dips!

I found these questionnaires online to use with kids each year on their birthday.

Happy 2nd Birthday! (posted 3/26)

Boy, did this guy have fun at his party!

He got lots of great presents and had a ball being the center of attention! The highlights of the party - - big turtle, little turtle and "Aunt Bail" (Aunt Bell). He's mentioned her name almost every day since. Thanks to everyone who came and celebrated our little boy's birthday, and a special thanks to Gram who saved all of my Sesame Street toys all these years. It made decorating for this party very easy - and very retro!!

Waiting, waiting, waiting for Granny...                         Finally!  They're here!!

Pinch, pinch, pinch!

A Birthday Dinner for Daddy

Happy Birthday Daddy! The day's celebration started off with a certain toddler jumping into bed with a balloon card, waking up a sleepy Daddy and a sleepy schnauzer.  Then I made us all a birthday brunch and we spent the rest of the day lounging around the house.

That evening, Jeff and Kathy took us all out for dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Mi Cocina, and we all ordered the same thing we always order - brisket tacos. So yummy!

Sam was a good boy for two reasons:  food and Danielle.  His dinner kept him happy for a while, and then when that ran out, Danielle and her pinwheel pencil kept him happy.  Thanks lady!

After dinner the Mi Cocina staff brought Brian a birthday flan, complete with a candle and a song.  What fun!

Happy Birthday Pops

Happy Birthday, Pops! We celebrated Pops' 60th birthday this past Saturday. We went out to eat and then back to Gram and Pops' house for cake and ice cream. Sam was a good little boy and we had lots of fun.

This Time Last Year

This phrase has popped into my mind a lot lately - "This time last year...". It was about this time last year that our pregnancy got really exciting. We had made it through the first trimester and felt comfortable telling family, work collegues and friends that a baby was on the way. We started planning, shopping and going to doctor appointments. My clothes weren't fitting, and I had a good excuse for once.

Telling Gram and Pops the big news on my 31st birthday - it took Gram a little while to believe that she was looking at a sonogram

We don't have a photo of us telling Granny Nell and Vic because we were all up to our elbows in Cheesecake Factory pasta, but they were the first to hear the news and were in much the same disbelief as the grandparents above.

Sam and me on my birthday

Brian and I went on a date last night for my birthday while Gram and Pops babysat. Driving home, he and I talked about how it was "about this time last year" that we told everyone we were pregnant, and now here's little Sam, rolling all over the floor and buh-buh-buhing all day long. That's a lot packed into one little year!

How lucky we are!
