Sam Straka, age 6, practicing his photography on the front patio.

For a long time now, Sam has shown an interest in art of all kinds - drawing, painting, and most recently, photography.  He and I have decided to work through a self-paced children's photography course written by several photographers at Clickin Moms.  We are learning about camera care, the parts of a camera, focus, exposure, composition, the color wheel, and white balance.  We hope to finish our lessons early summer '15 and celebrate the first round of our photography course by creating a special photo album of images.

Sam shoots with a Canon 300D Digital Rebel, Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens, in RAW format.  For now, I do a minimal edit of his images for him in Lightroom 5 with Clickin Mom's "Quickie" JPEG presets.   He  and I cull his images and select his best work for display in the gallery.

Sam's interest in how things work, along with his artistic eye, has made this a fun adventure for both of us.  He's a quick study and loves having a creative outlet.  Check back often for new images.  Enjoy!
