So Close

Evie's been working so hard on her crawling.  She's so close now, she can taste it!  She gets up on her knees and takes a few "steps", then falls on her tummy and army-crawls the rest of the way.  It's only a matter of time now, I just know it.

She found her way over to me, too.  I think she wanted to look inside the camera lens.

Yay, Evie!  You got it!  Such a hard worker - you'll be on the move in no time!

Pretend Swimming

I bought this suit for Evelyn the day we found out we were having a girl.  It was on sale at Janie & Jack;  the matching swim cap, too.  Knowing she would be six months old on May 21st, I got a size 6-12 months.

Oops.

Turns out it's a little snug, and short.  It might get us through June, but I went ahead and ordered a new suit - size 12-18 months - to wear the rest of the summer.

Sam and I put the pool on the front patio and filled the bottom with just a tiny bit of water.  We dipped Evelyn's toesies in, and she screamed.  And screamed.  And screamed.  So we decided to dump out the water, put her in the Bumbo, and give her lots of toys to play with.  She ended up having a great time, but what we're going to do when Sam wants to go to the big pool I don't know!

Chop, Chop, Chop

I like making baby food.  I actually find it relaxing and it's so easy.  Just chop-chop-chop, steam, blend and freeze.  I usually make a bunch of food all at once.  If I'm going to dirty all those dishes, I'd rather have a lot of food at the end to show for it.  This was my first baby-food making session for Evelyn.  I made apples, pears, carrots and sweet potatoes.  I hope she likes it.

Nom-Nom-Nom

Dr. G. said we could start solids anytime now that Evie's six months old.  He suggested rice or oats.  This took some planning, let me tell you.  Had to make the cereal, just the right consistency for those first tastes, then feed and snap at the same time.  Not easy!

She sort of liked it, though most of it ended up on her bib or her tray.  She likes to grab the spoon - that was a surprise!  I love all of the expressions she makes while eating.  Such a happy girl!
