This guy, right here....this guy learned how to ride his bike without the training wheels in about five minutes. A few houses to the right, a few houses to the left, with Brian holding on, and then zooooom!! Of he went!
This girl loves to play babies. She especially enjoys feeding them. She's been asking for a highchair for her baby dolls for a while so I finally got her one, and I think it was the best day of her life. She only said "thank you" about twenty-seven times, though, so I'm not sure.
Here we are on a Saturday morning, feeding her baby doll many things, including mushroom salad and chocolate chip cookies. Mmmm!
So. Much. Energy.
Sam has found the perfect place for a hideout - under our front privet bush. Sometimes he stays under there alone, often times he and his neighborhood friends are hanging out in it. Sam even made a sign for it: "Bush-Sweet-Bush". Never thought when a parent came by looking for their child I'd say, "Yeah, their here. They're in the bush".
This is Sugarpuff. He's a loving lap-dog trapped in a cat's body. I *do not* like cats, and not just because I'm allergic. But this cat is cool. And I'm not the only one who feels this way.
Sam and Evie love him, and so do many families in our neighborhood. No one seems to agree on whether or not he has a permanent home, but either way he seems to be doing well.
He's made himself comfortable on many different porches (he likes to sleep in Evie's old stroller when visiting our house), and many families have even fed him and let him stay inside overnight. And every family he visits has a different name for him; Pumpkin, Sancho, Ginger, Tramp, Charlie, Garfield, Snowflake, and of course, Sugarpuff. He likes to follow kids to the elementary school in the morning, and stops at the corner of the playground field and watches them walk in to school. He's very social, but never stays in one place for long. He's a wanderer!
Sugarpuff, you're awesome!
It's hard to take a walk with Evie when she stops every few houses to pick a dandelion or two. Thankfully, I had my camera with me this time, so I could capture those chubby cheeks!
Sam came in from playing with friends and wanted cookies, asap. Lucky for him, I had a box of cookie mix in the pantry and he was up for baking!
Delicious!
With weather like this, we had to head outside to get rid of some energy before dinnertime!
Evie and I joined some photography friends at Play Street Museum, the coolest kids activity place. At this particular location, the area was laid out like a little town; miniature homes and buildings set up just like the real thing, all decked out for open-ended and imaginative play! Everything was top-notch, with the best toys and materials for her play with. We were there for over three hours and she would've stayed longer if we hadn't had to go pick Sam up from school.
She had so much fun in the play house, feeding the babies and putting them to bed I thought she'd never try the other areas. Then she found the Kroger! She was able to buy Evie-sized groceries with an Evie-sized cart, and she even got to play cashier for the other little shoppers.
It took me a while, but I was able to coax her into the mini-Kenny's Burger diner. Once we were inside she had fun making me burgers and banana splits.
We finished our time here with some playtime at the moon sand table. This was the first time either of us had played with moon sand and it was so neat. We made all kinds of shapes and just squished it through our fingers over and over. Play Street Museum made for an awesome morning of play - we'll go back soon, for sure!
It was fun celebrating Pops's birthday in downtown Denton at our favorite pizza joint, J&Js, and our favorite bookstore, Recycled Books & Records. The pizza was awesome, as always. Evie enjoyed a little of it under her mountain of parmesan cheese.
Gram and Pops let Sam and Evie choose some books. Sam went right for the section on states and presidents. He chose a book called The Remarkable Ronald Reagan. Come to find out, that day, February 6th, would have been President Reagan's 105th birthday! Perfect choice!
Evie's currently obsessed with Golden Books, so she chose this version of Sleeping Beauty along with a Margaret Wise Brown bunny Golden Book.
Thanks for the books, Pops! And happy birthday!
Pardon the overshare of images, but the light was so pretty and the kids were having so much fun on this warm January evening that I just couldn't stop shooting!
The playground, popcorn and lollipops, and no jackets in January.
Doesn't get much better than that!
Both my monkeys were climbing a lot today. Whatever they need to do to burn that energy off!
