Look What We've Got...

July 01, 2012 by Sara

A baby on the way!

Ask Sam about it and he will tell you...

"There's a GIRL baby in Mommy's tummy!"

He obviously has no idea how his world's going to change when she gets here, but for now, he's pretty excited.  He'll make an excellent big brother to our little girl.  November 18th / 19th is the date, unless she decides to introduce herself early, and we should be back home with our new little turkey by Thanksgiving!

Chef Sam

June 19, 2012 by Sara

Everybody's happy when we're making ice cream!

Sam got this super-cool apron from Ms. Jean for his birthday and Mommy and Daddy recently got a super-cool ice cream maker, well, just because!  We've been making lots of ice cream lately, but this particular batch was special because we were making Pops some purple ice cream for Father's Day. It was technically blackberry, which we made because Pops seems to always order fruit-flavored ice cream and yogurt when we go out, but we called it "purple ice cream" because that is Sam's favorite color. Chef Sam's job was to put the blackberries in the bowl and dump the sugar on top. It tasted fantastic!

Charles Barkley

June 19, 2012 by Sara

By request.

I've been told Charlie pictures were needed on the blog ASAP, so here ya' go. Charlie is a PBGV and is adorable and full of personality. He loves tummy rubs, ricotta cheese, and Sleep Number Beds (he's a "40"). He's also known to get a wee bit jealous when Debbie talks to other dogs, but he plays it cool while reminding her that she belongs to only him. :) More KC trip pictures to come...

Little Artist

June 08, 2012 by Sara

Captured a few photos of our little artist at our playdate.

We met our Lens Baby friends at Frisco's Central Park for some painting fun.  Sam had a great time creating his green masterpiece made by mixing yellow and blue on the canvas, "just like the book Little Blue and Little Yellow", he said.  He looks like a natural - I wonder if he'll be a talented painter like Brian?

Lake Ray Roberts

May 28, 2012 by Sara

We took a trip to "the beach" last week.

The closest we get to a beach in North Texas, anyway.  Sam had a great time playing in the sand, wading through the water, and casting his fishing line with Daddy - all firsts for him.  We brought a picnic lunch and enjoyed having the beach pretty much to ourselves.   It was bright and sunny but not too awful hot because it was sooo windy, which worked out great.  The water was the perfect temperature, too.  We'll definitely be taking a trip back there soon!

Look!  It's Mommy!  I had Daddy take a picture for proof that I was there, too :)

Red, White and Blue

May 27, 2012 by Sara

Sam had fun at our Memorial Day playdate.  Really, he did.

We were back at our favorite McKinney spot, Chestnut Square and he had a good time running around with his friends.  It's nice to see them playing together more, now that they're older.  Happy Memorial Day :).

Schooool's out for the SUMMER!

(Click

We said goodbye yesterday to Ms. Bonnie and Ms. Amy.  They were fantastic teachers and sent Sam home with several photos taken throughout the year.  Next year he'll go to the same school, and will officially be a "preschooler".  Eek!  Below are some pics of the sweet memories he brought home with him.  Looks like he had a great year!

Pool Day

May 19, 2012 by Sara

Lobster swim trunks - check.  Monkey floatie - check. Super-cool guy sunglasses - check

.  We're ready for the pool.  And yes, he wore LOTS of sunscreen.  That is one pale kid.  I can't

imagine

where he gets that from...*ahem*.  And if you think that's the whitest tummy you've ever laid eyes on, you should see the

before

version of this photo.  My eyes were burning... :)

Jellybeans for Our Favah

May 05, 2012 by Sara

"Forgive us our debts,

and we can get our debtors

".

Sam earned two lollipops at MDO the other day, one for taking a nap, one for saying The Lord's Prayer in front of the class. Ms. Amy sure knows how to get my kid to do something...Dum-Dums. I wanted him to say it for me at home and he did, until I asked him to do it again for the video camera. That took some bribing. Being close to Easter, we had a healthy supply of jellybeans on-hand, and thankfully that did the trick. Interestingly enough, he hadn't had a jellybean before, but was smart enough to know it was something tasty he should agree to. And as you'll see at the end of the video, Sam has an excellent memory and holds you to your promises.

Bluebonnets and Butterflies

May 03, 2012 by Sara

Bluebonnets at sunset and a picnic!

These were taken with the new camera, and for our first time out, with me feeling a bit under-the-weather and dealing with swift-moving clouds that kept hiding, then showing, then hiding my sun, they didn't turn out too bad!  After our photoshoot in the flowers, we had a picnic dinner before heading home.  Within a few days, the flowers were gone.  We got them done just in the nick of time!

Goodbye, Old Friend

March 31, 2012 by Sara

May she rest in peace ;)

She worked hard before clicking herself out, but to be honest, I wasn't really

that

sad to see her go.  Sorry Rebel-Girl.

Who's replaced her?  Why, the big-ol' Mark Daddy, of course - the new man in my life.  I have a feeling he and I are going to get along

very

well.  And thank-you to the other man in my life for being as excited about the Mark Daddy as me.  :)

Brave Boy

March 06, 2012 by Sara

Turns out this brave boy really knows how to wow a dentist's office!

I'd been dreading this first trip to the dentist for at least a year, but Sam did awesome!  Going to the pediatrician is always a different story, but he really impressed the dentist and all her staff.  They thought he was hilarious, sweet and a great talker!  They couldn't believe he made it through the full exam.  The dentist told me they usually do lap-exams for first-timers this young, but he had no problem sitting in the chair, leaning back in it, wearing the bib and the special glasses.

He let them brush his teeth with the buzzing toothbrush tool, rinse his mouth with the sucker-thing, and take x-rays of all his teeth.  And when they asked him how many teeth he thought he had, he guessed twenty, which was correct!  They went crazy when he said that, but I promised them it was just a lucky guess!  Best of all, he has perfect teeth with perfect spacing (likely to be a $$ saver for Mommy and Daddy) and no "sugar bugs".  He even got his picture taken for the No Cavity Club board.

Everything was perfect until it was time to paint on the varnish.  Then he kind of lost his cool.  There was nothing scary about it - in fact, it should have been the least frightening part of the visit.  They just paint some colorless wax stuff on with what looks like a kid's Crayola paintbrush.  But at that point he'd just had enough.  Mommy had to hold him down while they quickly painted his teeth with the "yucky stuff".   Ask him how his dentist's visit was and this will be the first thing he tells you about, but overall he did great.

I'd promised him I'd take him out to get some seeds for his part of the garden if he made it through the visit, so off to Lowes we went for some flower seeds.  Yea Sam!  Hopefully we'll have the same success again in six months!
